Monica Marquez Gatica

FLUIDITY

Monica is originally from Spain, an immigrant woman creative, and living in Aurora, CO since 2005. When asked about the art exhibition, Monica said creating new paintings during COVID has changed my process. I found a new merger between an object and a subject, infused by a fluidity of calmness. The theme also describes life since 2020, where we are all fluid, changing and adapting to new realities.

In the exhibition, Monica aims to challenge the sensitivity of the senses, slowing everything down to leave calm thoughts in the viewer’s mind. She arranged her paintings in a secession-like coziness of the The People’s Building Art Gallery, Aurora, CO.

Monica’s paintings transform the shape and color into more fluid, yet detailed pieces. As a talented emerging self-taught professional artist, she is finding her stride with mastery of techniques.

Shane Bryant

ART IN MOVEMENT

My Favorite thing about animation is breathing life into fantasy lands, distant worlds, and historical periods. The complexity of animation both intrigues and challenges me. Not only does it require expert drawing skills, but also movement, flow, lighting, sound, direction, and a love for expressing one’s self creatively. As a result, my animation contains all aspects of visual arts.

I make my art for me, it is almost like meditation, but if my work can make one stop and think, contemplate through evoked emotions, I am satisfied.
